Little girl singing "Born this way" By Lady Gaga! AMAZING!

Lady Gaga ; You love her or you hate her.

Ok, so we all know Lady Gaga is "different", but you can't deny her beautiful voice and entertaining performances. She's very strange to most, but she's considered an original leader in the music industry. I have much respect for her. I love that she is confortable in her own skin and could care less what anyone thinks of her. I think we should all have that kind of attitude. It may sound crazy, but we could all learn a thing or two from her. Her message is: "Love yourself, there's nothing wrong with it" and that's the damn truth. I love her new song "Born this way" ; It's such a "feel good" song. You can love her or hate her, either way, it won't phase her.

Funniest kid video

So I know a lot of you have probably already seen this... but it still makes me laugh =)

Kids actually want to eat quality meals too? WHAT?

Parents, you're not alone: New study shows kids value quality meals, too

(ARA) - As a parent, you realize sharing a family meal is an important way to spend time with your children, but did you know kids also recognize the importance of this activity?

Interestingly, 82 percent of parents feel closer to their kids and 72 percent of kids feel closer to their parents when families sit down together for a quality meal according to the recent "Share the Table Survey," commissioned by,
Barilla, a top Italian food company, and Family Circle magazine.

The survey emphasized the importance of the quality of meal time for both parents and kids. In fact, parents and kids who share high-quality meals together, regardless of how often they share those meals in some instances, are more likely to be happier and feel they possess specific positive emotional and social attributes.

"This innovative research showed us that kids value the family dinner as much as adults do, and they actually appreciate their parents more when they take the time to share a meal," says Dr. William J. Doherty, professor of family social science and director of the Citizen Professional Center at the University of Minnesota, as well as a contributor to the study. "These findings tell us that something as simple as everyone sitting down together and talking about their day over a good meal can strengthen the bonds between parents and kids."

Parents and kids agree that the key ingredients for a high-quality meal include laughter, relaxation, conversation and being together eating something everyone likes. Survey highlights include:

* Both parents and kids agree that spending time together is a top priority - and both wish they had more time to connect - and sharing family meals is the most important way families can do this.

* Families that regularly share meal time have parents who feel happier and less stressed, and children who get better grades, develop healthy habits, and feel their parents are relaxed and fun to be around.

* Mealtime togetherness contribute more strongly to kids well-being than other common activities that families do together and other activities competing for kids' time (sports, dance, arts, clubs) and yet family dinners are given away to accommodate those other activities.

"We know how hard it is to always get the whole family together for dinner, and it's great to see that teens and 'tweens appreciate family time just as much as moms and dads," says Linda Fears, editor-in-chief of Family Circle. "We always tell our readers that the best way to make the most out of mealtime is to check technology at the door, engage each other, take time to relax and enjoy the food."

Doherty offers some advice for how parents can make
sharing a meal a regular, beneficial occurrence in their home:

* Minimize outside activities that interfere with family dinners. Start small, perhaps choosing one night a week for a family meal. Make it special and start adding days from there. If your children let you know that they think family dinners are inconvenient and boring, resist the temptation to cave in.

* Ban TV and other electronic media, except background music, from family dinners. Encourage conversation and laughter to be the focal point.

* Involve children in meal planning and preparation. It's a great way for parents and kids to interact, and can also help children learn healthy nutrition and eating habits.

The family meal experts at Barilla offer a simple, yet tasty recipe to help families get started on sharing the table. The fact is, dinner doesn't have to be daunting with plenty of options available for creating a healthy meal for your family.

Recipe: Whole Grain Spaghetti with Zucchini and Yellow Squash

Preparation time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 40 to 45 minutes
Serves: Four to six people

Ingredients:

1 box Barilla Whole Grain Spaghetti
4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 clove of garlic, chopped
2 zucchini, sliced with peeler
2 yellow squash, sliced with peeler
14 ounces San Marzano tomatoes, canned
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
4 leaves fresh basil, cut into strips
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Directions:

Fill a large pot with water and bring to a boil. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and saute until it turns slightly yellow. Cook the whole-grain spaghetti for one minute less than the cooking time recommended on the package.

Meanwhile, add the zucchini and yellow squash to the skillet and saute for three to four minutes. Add the tomatoes and 1/2 cup of water. Season with salt and pepper.

Drain the spaghetti and add it to the skillet. Toss with the sauce. Let the pasta continue to cook in the skillet for one minute. Turn off the heat and toss in the fresh basil. Top with Parmesan cheese before serving.

Eat colorfully for best nutrition

By RHONDA SCHEMBER
Still blanketed by lingering winter reminders, our March landscape isn't all that colorful. Trees are bare and early spring flowers remain buried under snow and mud.

But the produce aisles of local supermarkets paint a much different picture. There you'll find a painter's palette of colorful and nutritious foods to feast your eyes on.

Grapefruit, nectarines, asparagus, snow peas, apples, kiwi, Brussels sprouts, onions and sweet potatoes -- the American Dietetic Association encourages everyone to add color and nutrients to everyday meals in this year's National Nutrition Month theme: "Eat Right with Color."

According to Kerry Clelland, R.D., L.D.N., Foods & Nutrition Management/Clinical Dietetics Food Service Director at the Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center, "the focus on color makes it new and easier to teach the public about healthy eating."

A registered dietitian for nearly 20 years, she has observed the evolution of her profession as it relates to product availability.

"Years ago, there just wasn't a very large selection of fresh foods available during the winter months. Today, the aisles are bursting with color and beneficial nutrients year-round."

Her co-worker and fellow dietitian, Andrea Simons-Snedden, M.S., R.D., L.D.N., agrees.

"Because there are more fresh fruits and vegetables to choose from (as well as frozen, canned and dried), there's a greater variety of good nutrients available." Her advice to food shoppers? The darker and brighter the color -- the more nutrient dense the food. But adding a splash of colorful seasonal foods to a plate makes for more than just a festive meal -- particularly for children.

As Jamie Moraski, RD, L.D.N. at St. Vincent's Health Center points out, children seldom get enough of the essential nutrients needed for growth and development.

Industry experts report that children and teens have diets deficient in fiber, Vitamin D, calcium and potassium.

"Nearly all fruits and vegetables reduce the risk of cancers, but certain colors zero in on particular health issues. For example, green, yellow or orange produce also promotes healthy vision and immunity against viruses and bacteria," Moraski said.

If you really want to boost the nutritional value of a meal, consider the color of the ingredients. By including a wider variety you'll make the food more attractive and maximize the health benefits at the same time.

In the nutrition arena, that's a win-win.

The ab-doer twist

I thought this may be of interest to any new moms who are trying to lose their baby PHAT...

In these days we are all being exposed to lots of TV commercials trying to sell us a new small and cool fitness machine that is supposed to help us in our workouts, without any further explanation of how that is done. In those terms, there's no wonder thousands of people keep searching and Googling for information about it before they risk their money.
In these short lines we'll try to cover the AbDoer Twist in it's major aspects to give you a detailed review of this fitness machine before you decide if it is going to be the next exercise machine in your home.
Let's start with "number one" fact: the AbDoer Twist is not magic. It wont do ANYTHING for you if you are not willing to do that. I mean, we have to face it, there is no fitness machine in the world yet that can workout for you. So, if you were expecting us to tell you "yeah, just buy it, buy it and leave it aside in your living room and you'll see the wonders it makes!"... well.... not. Don't buy it if you are one of those. It wont do any wonders for you, that's for sure.
I know it may hurt to listen to it. I know that is not what most people are expecting to hear. And I know, for sure, that I may not be the most appreciated person for saying that, but that's the truth. No good thing comes from doing nothing, not in general aspects of life, nor in fitness. and I would quickly run away from anybody trying to sell you another truth on that.
But, and this one piece of "But", if you already know that for any workout you start there is at least more than a 50% of work that has to come from YOU, this could be a very cool add-on for your fitness accessories.
It is a really easy to use machine. You can practically start using it minutes after you receive it making the most of a very light workout for your whole upper body (and off course, your abs, specially) using every minute of it as truly powerful fitness time.
The AbDoer Twist is designed to actually help you work out, whether you are a workout addict, or you just want to look different, it will take your efforts to a higher level facilitating the right movements you got to do in order to achieve the best results ever.
And one of the best parts of it: the AbDoer Twist is actually very small and compact so if can fit in any space while being used, without consuming room, and it can fit ANY space while not being in use what is, let's face it, something we all care when it comes to get a new fitness machine to be used at home or at the office in our free time.

How to EAT DESSERT..... and STILL lose weight!

How to Eat Dessert and STILL Lose Weight

Mmmm!

dineanddish on flickr.com
User-Submitted Article
A lot of people are trying to give up desserts for better health, but you don't have to. Just save room during dinner for this dessert and you can still lose weight, even when you're enjoying dessert!
Difficulty: Easy

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • low-fat or fat-free yogurt
  • fruits of your choice
  • granola
  • light or sugar-free whipped cream
  1. 1
Begin with chilled parfait glasses. If you have none, a daiquiri glass or even a martini glass can be substituted. Put a small layer of yogurt at the bottom. You want each layer big enough so that the layers don't just mix together into a sloppy mess.
  2. 2
Add a layer of fruit (any kind of berry will be popular, or you can experiment with your own favorites) and top with a small layer of granola for some crunch.
  3. 3
Keep alternating layers until the glass is nearly filled to the rim. It looks most festive to top with a layer of granola and a dollop of whipped cream. Some people like to top it with something colorful like cinnamon or those little sugar sprinkles. You are free to use your imagination!

HOW TO SET UP A PLAY PEN (Don't be embarassed, we all have these moments...)

  1. Unwrap the playpen by undoing the straps which secure the wrapper. This wrapper doubles as the baseboard, so set it aside for later use.
  2. Pull out on all four bottom corners (feet) of the playpen. Between corners on each side there is a hidden hinge, so be sure to straigten the hinge to secure your work.
  3. Pull out on all four top corners of the playpen. There is a hinge between these corners as well, but these are locking hinges. Be sure to straighten and then lock each of these hinges by rotating them to face down, rather than up.
  4. Put the bedsheet on the baseboard, with the cushion side of the baseboard facing up.
  5. Place the baseboard in the playpen to finish the erection of the playpen.

Cute baby picture of the day!

This an image I found of two young girls on google.ca. I believe they are twins, very cute!

BABY MYTHS AND FACTS :

Baby Myths & Facts

When pregnant, it seems as though everyone is willing to come forward with their own theories, but how do you sort the myths from facts?  We’ve separated fact from fiction for you.

Music during Pregnancy

Much has been made about the potential benefits of playing music to the baby while it is still in the womb.  There are many specialist tapes available, or you can choose to play music that you generally find soothing.
The baby is able to receive vibrations during the latter part of the pregnancy, and is able to feel them after the fourth month.  Any music that is soothing for the mother is also soothing for the baby.  Most music acts as external stimuli and helps with foetal development.  However, it is important to pick music that you like as any music that disturbs the mother will also disturb the baby.
The music relaxes the mother.  This leads to her eating and sleeping better, in turn helping the baby.  The relaxation effects of the music can help with hypertension, back pain, and other problems that occur during pregnancy. It also helps with bonding with the child, as the mother is taking the time to simply sit and share the music with the child, without thinking about anything else.  The baby’s response to the music is more about familiarity than anything else.  It doesn’t matter what is being played, per se, as the repetition leads to the music becoming soothing.  However, the music should be played at safe levels to avoid any harm to mother or baby.

Common Baby Myths

Determining the sex
It has been said that the way that the woman carries the baby will determine whether it is a boy or a girl.  This is not true at all.  The position of the baby will depend on the body type and if she has been pregnant before. For example, taller women may appear to carry the baby higher than a shorter woman, even if they are carrying in relatively the same place.
Eating for Two
It is also not true that the woman has to eat for two.  In fact, there is no set formula for how much weight a woman should gain through her pregnancy.  As long as the woman is eating healthily, and there is no concern from her doctor, there is no need to worry.
Taking Baths
It has been said that pregnant women should not take baths but in actual fact, they should not take hot baths.  Water that is too hot is unfavourable to the pregnancy but a warm bath (with someone to help you in and out) can decrease swelling in the arms and legs, increase amniotic fluid, prevent premature contractions, and is fantastic for relaxation.
Eating fish
Much has been made of the potential risk of food poisoning and also the mercury levels in fish.  However, small white fish have been in the ocean for a short period of time and are generally safe to ingest.  Stay away from deep water fish.  The oil in fish contains healthy omega 3 fats which enhance the baby’s brain development, improves the baby’s IQ, improves baby’s sleep after birth, prevents premature contractions and premature labour, prevents high blood pressure during pregnancy, and acts as an anti-inflammatory.
Changing cat litter
Pregnant women should not change cat litter through their pregnancy.  This is actually true as there is a virus in cat faeces called toxoplasmosis which can be very harmful during pregnancy.  In fact, limit contact with the cat as the cat can track the virus through the house on their paws, and keep the house extra clean.
Avoiding alcohol
It is very true that women should not drink any alcohol at all through the pregnancy as alcohol is toxic to a growing baby.  Even one drink a day can cause noticeable problems.
Morning sickness
Not all pregnant women will suffer from morning sickness.  This is because morning sickness is often caused by a rise in the hormone estrogen.  If the body produced a high level prior to pregnancy, the additional estrogen may cause morning sickness – or not.  It depends on the individual woman and her hormone levels.
Carrying heavy items
Pregnant women should not carry heavy items.  This is because there is already extra weight on the body, which throws off balance and makes her more likely to fall.  A fall during pregnancy may be devastating and any falls should always be treated immediately.
Falling pregnant the second time
It is true that it is easier to fall pregnant the second time.   On average, it takes couples with children six months to conceive, while couples without children take an average twelve months to conceive.  If you already have two boys or girls, you are more likely to have a third.  Even though sex selection is random, some men will have better quality of X or Y chromosomes, thus increasing the likelihood of having children that are all the same sex.

What will be the top baby names of 2011? Looking at emerging baby name trends, we can predict what names will most likely be at the top of the charts for popular boy names and girl names. From unique names to destination names, like Ireland or London, to short names, like Hayes or Eve, find out what baby names we predict will be tops in 2011.
Baby boy in blue hatBaby names are influenced by everything from pop culture to celebrity names – and even the economic climate.  Find out what baby girl names and baby boy names we predict will be at the top of the baby name lists in 2011.

Top Destination Baby Names

Baby names after a specific city, state or country have become a hot baby name trend, especially among celebrities.  Alicia Keys named her son Egypt, reportedly after she fell in love with the country during a visit. Cairo would also be a cool baby boy name. British Prime Minister David Cameron named his daughter Florence – after Florence, Italy, perhaps? Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman named her baby girl India, while actor Neal McDonough named his daughter London. Victoria and David Beckham named their son Brooklyn, reportedly after they found out they were pregnant with him while in New York.
One of our favorite celebrity girl names is Aviana, the name of actress Amy Adams 7-month-old daughter. The actress named her daughter after her birthplace of Aviano, Italy.

Top Old Fashioned Baby Names

Old fashioned or classic baby names were popular in 2010, and will continue to top the charts in 2011.  Emmett, Silas, Beckett, Liam, Carter, Levi and Oliver were some of the boy names that made the biggest jump on the popular baby name lists of 2010. For girls, Arabella, Adalyn, Alice, Eliza and Eleanor all made huge jumps on the charts. Celebrities also jumped on the old fashioned baby name bandwagon, with names like Mae (Bachelorette Jen Schefft),  Genevieve (Racer Jimmie Johnson), Grace (Actor Mark Wahlberg),  Louis (Actress Sandra Bullock),  Abel (actress Amy Poehler), and Nelson & Eddy (twin sons of Celine Dion).
For more ideas, check out our list of 150 Old Fashioned Baby Names. >>

Unique Name Spellings

Instead of coming up with unique or unusual names, many of today’s parents are taking traditional names and coming up with unique spellings.  For instance,  American Idol alum Bo Bice named his son Ean, instead of the traditional spelling of Ian. Designer Stella McCartney named her daughter Reiley – changing up the spelling of the name that is traditionally spelled Riley. Singer Joey Fatone went with the “K” name trending (thanks to the Kardashians?) and named his daughter Kloey, instead of the traditional Chloe.
One word of caution: Even though these names look cool on paper, think about your child having to spell his or her name over and over again for people who are used to the traditional spelling of the name. A different or unique spelling can be a great idea, as long as the spelling isn't too far out there.

Top One Syllable Names or Short Names

One syllable or short names have a modern and hip sound to them. They sound good with long or short names, they are easy to spell and you don’t have to worry about a strange nickname since they are already in a shortened state. The name Jax, for example, is quickly moving up the baby name charts, as is Colt, Sage and Zane. Reality star Bethenny Frankel named her daughter Bryn, while actress Jessica Capshaw named her daughter Eve August and Gary Busey named his son Luke.

The 10 Best Weight-Loss Tips Ever

Dieting sucks and never seems to work long-term anyway. These easy habits will slim you down.

Losing pounds doesn't have to be torture (we're looking at you, cayenne-pepper cleanse). Adopt at least three of these behaviors — they're simple to integrate into your day-to-day routine, and all are enthusiastically backed by nutritionists — and you'll be thinner and healthier in days. (Plus, the weight will stay off.)
1. SNACK, BUT SMARTLY
Grazing between meals used to be on the weight-loss hit list. But nutritionists now know that it's better to satisfy a craving with healthy grub than ignore it and risk a junk-food binge later. The best picks are filling, protein-packed snacks, such as one stick of string cheese, a tablespoon of peanut butter on a piece of fruit, or a medium-size bowl of edamame.
2. TURN OFF THE TV
Dining while viewing can make you take in 40 percent more calories than usual, reports a new study. And texting, driving, or any other distracting activity during a meal can also result in your eating too much. Instead, make each meal something you put on a plate and sit down to, even if you're eating solo.
3. STEP ON THE SCALE DAILY
If your regular weight increases several days in a row, it's a red flag letting you know you need to cut back a little or beef up your workouts slightly.
4. SCULPT THREE TIMES A WEEK
Doing 5 minutes each of push-ups, lunges, and squats (in 30-second intervals) will help build and maintain muscle mass. The more muscle you have, the higher your metabolism will be, so you'll torch more calories as you go about your day.
5. REACH FOR YOUR CELL
Next time your mind gets stuck on a certain food, call a friend and redirect your brain by asking how her day's going. Research shows that cravings only last about 5 minutes, so by the time you hang up, the urge to devour junk will have subsided.

6. EAT A BIG, BALANCED BREAKFAST
An a.m. meal made up mostly of carbs and protein with some fat keeps blood-sugar levels steady and hunger pangs away so you're not susceptible to pigging out come lunch, studies show. Opt for something satisfying for your stomach and taste buds — like egg whites and turkey bacon with whole-wheat toast.
7. WATCH THE BOOZE
One innocent-looking margarita or cosmopolitan can rack up hundreds of calories that do nothing to quench your appetite. Treat yourself just on the weekends and cut back somewhere else or stick to a glass of wine, light beer, or vodka and soda — three drinks that each have about 100 calories per serving.
8. HAVE FRUIT TWICE A DAY
Fruit has no fat and is mostly water, so it'll fill you up while leaving less room on your plate (and in your stomach) for high-cal fare. Don't freak about fruit's carb count — we're talking the good kind of carbohydrates that contain lots of healthy fiber.
9. STAY ASLEEP LONGER
